Downtown Nashville has no shortage of happy hour. It has a shortage of happy hour where you can finish a sentence. Lower Broadway at 4pm is three floors of cover bands doing “Wagon Wheel” at each other through the floorboards, a $17 well drink, and a bachelorette party in matching sashes standing between you and the bar.
Keep walking north. Fourth Avenue runs straight up from the honky-tonks, past the State Capitol, and into Germantown — the oldest neighborhood in the city and still the quietest corner of downtown. Social Cantina sits at 820 4th Avenue, at the top of that walk, directly across the sidewalk from First Horizon Park.
It is about a mile from the neon. In practice it is a different city: brick storefronts, a state park, a farmers’ market, and a bar where happy hour in downtown Nashville still means a $2 beer and somebody remembering your order.

Before the Sounds game
First pitch is usually 6:35. Happy hour ends at 6. The gate is across the sidewalk. You do not need to leave early — you need to leave.
Before Broadway, not on it
Drink here, walk the mile south, arrive at the Ryman or Bridgestone having spent a third of what the same round costs on Lower Broadway.
The 5pm downtown escape
The state office buildings, the Capitol, and Music City Central all sit within a ten-minute walk. Germantown is where downtown goes when it clocks out.
After the Greenway
The Cumberland River Greenway runs past the door. Walk it, then come back for a $2 tequila and pretend that cancels out.

Happy Hour in Nashville Goes Better With Queso
The full kitchen is open the entire time. Chips and white queso blended with roasted peppers, guacamole made fresh, elotes — roasted corn ribs with crema, cotija and lime — and a three-salsa flight if you want to argue about which one wins.
If you’re staying for dinner, the Nashville food menu runs from street tacos and cantina bowls to fajitas for two and quesabirria with consommé. If you’re not, order the chorizo fundido and call it a meal. Nobody here is going to stop you.

There are roughly 6,000 parking spaces within a half-mile walk of 820 4th Avenue, free and paid. That is not a downtown Nashville sentence people are used to reading, and it is the single most underrated thing about drinking in Germantown instead of on Broadway.
On a Sounds night the lots fill from the stadium outward, so arriving at 3 or 4 for happy hour means you park close and walk to the game rather than the reverse. Music City Central is a ten-minute walk if you’d rather not drive at all.
